MYP (Middle Years Program) 7th-10th grade

MYP

Saddleback High School is a Candidate School for the IB Middle Years Program, planning for authorization in Fall 2026. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School for MYP, and was authorized as an IB World School for the IB Diploma Program in Spring 2017. IB World Schools are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Saddleback High School believes is important for our students.

Acceptance into the IB Middle Years Program for incoming 7th grade students is competitive, as we only accept around 50 students per year. Interest forms are usually available in the Fall following an informational parent meeting that all 6th grade students in SAUSD are invited to.

Timeline of acceptance:

1. After all forms have been received, we will review each applicant's record and send teacher recommendation forms to each student's teachers.

2. After reviewing all interest forms and teacher recommendations, we will compile a list of students to invite for an interview with MYP teachers.

3. After the interview process is completed, we will compile our final list of 7th-grade students for next year.

4. We will notify students and parents by mid-January.

For incoming 9th grade students, we are open access to any student interested in joining IB MYP for 9th grade. However, we do require that students maintain at least a 2.5 GPA, and successfully complete either Math 8 Honors in 8th grade, or take Algebra 1 summer school prior to beginning 9th grade.
